With a week to go until Kentucky Derby 142, the normal field has come to fruition, with sections and post positions to be drawn on Wednesday, May 4.
Remember, however, that as of late, the week prior to the Kentucky Derby has seen noteworthy scratches, with prominent steeds dropping out and making space for those on the outside looking into take a shot on the primary Saturday in May.
2009: Favored I Want Revenge was scratched the morning of the race after a lower leg damage was identified.
2010: Eskendereya, prepared by Todd Pletcher, claimed by Zayat Stables, and the possible most loved in the race, was sidelined with harmed six days before the Derby. He never dashed again.
2011: Uncle Mo, the 2010 adolescent champion, likewise prepared by Pletcher, was pulled back the day preceding the race with a sickness.
